Would battle the Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo
Following last month's report that Porsche was considering a supercar to slot between the 911 GT2 RS and 918 Spyder, new information is starting to emerge about the secretive model.
Envisioned to battle the Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo, the car would reportedly feature a lightweight carbon fiber body and a suspension that borrows heavily from existing models. Nothing is official, but a "senior source" told Autocar the front suspension would likely mimic the 911's, while the rear would be an enlarged version of the Cayman's setup.
No word on what would power the new supercar, but the mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.6-liter flat six from the GT2 RS that develops 620 PS (462 kW / 612 hp) would be sufficient to say the least.
Porsche is set to make a decision on production later this year. If approved, the company would reportedly target sales of 2,500 to 3,000 units annually.
